United States (U.S.) Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
Incumbent looks after the condition of dogs' coats by shampooing, clipping, trimming and grooming. Advises owners on their dog's coat care, grooming and diet. Discusses with the dog's owner what type of grooming is needed.
Checks skin for ticks, fleas, sore or inflamed areas and any lumps. Shampoos, dries, brushes, combs dog's coat to get rid of tangles. Trims dog with electric clippers or stripping knife into the right shape for its bread and styles with scissors.
Clips dog's claws, cleans teeth and ears. Maintains cleanliness of kennels and crates. Keeps dog comfortable, safe and secure at all times.
Schedules dog grooming appointments, coordinate with Kennel manager, calculate kennel and grooming fees, collect fees and completes appropriate paperwork.
Cleans and sanitizes tools and equipment, keeping both in good working condition.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2. to include a physical.
Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
Must be able to work between hours of 6am and 7pm, including weekday and weekend shifts.
Duties involve considerable physical effort including lifting animals weighing up to 130 pounds, stretching, bending and working in awkward positions.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Requires thorough techniques, knowledge and experience in dog grooming. Knowledge of animal's characteristics, and behavior.
Requires skill in handling dogs and apply this skill to transfer dogs into and out of kennels and cages without injuring animals or getting bitten or scratched.
Skillful in using corrects tools for grooming. Requires basic clerical experience, making appointments, collecting fees and setting up and maintaining files.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
Possess a Dog Grooming certification
Possess two (2) years of professional dog grooming experience

Allowances and Differentials
This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
